We have only had two sessions in with our 4 year old - and he’s had more fun than he has with any other sport or activity. The coaches really take their time to teach discipline while making learning a martial art fun and engaging with the kids. I can’t explain the joy I feel watching my son engage in activities where he is genuinely having a blast, gaining a huge boost of confidence, and feeling a sense of teamwork and togetherness. I can’t recommend this place enough - he can’t wait to go back after class ends.
The coaches here were amazing. They took their time with me and trained me with basic combinations. Their knowledge was right on and were also very generous. I will definitely go back to sussex MMA each time I fly to NJ. Thank you coaches.
This was the first gym I trained BJJ at and the quality of coaching and athletes is excellent. At Sussex County MMA new comers and members are treated with respect and supported on and off the mats. The staff is welcoming and highly knowledgeable in Boxing, BJJ, Muay Thai, and beyond. If you have the chance to train here I suggest you do it, because you will be trained by professional athletes who seek to improve themselves and in turn those around them. I can still remember when got my blue belt in BJJ from Head Coach Jim Fitz. One of the best decisions I ever made when I started BJJ and Muay Thai with the community at SCMMA. Tough rolls and good people, highly recommend.

Amazing gym to learn bjj or Muay Thai. Coaches are awesome too especially coach Jim and coach tizzy. They make you feel like an equal even if you’re not and your class mates are always there to help and give you advice as well! Give them a try you wouldn’t regret it
The instructors are very well versed in multiple disciplines and facilitate learning in a safe and fun environment. Their expansive knowledge and willingness to share their time and insight make for great classes. The schedule is great and allows for multiple days of training in a week, even with a busy work schedule. Whether seasoned athlete or a newcomer, young or old, Sussex County MMA is the academy to attend.
My teenage sons and I train here. Just the right balance of serious training in a welcoming environment. We always feel supported. Instructors are accessible, knowledgeable, and friendly. Lots of opportunities to spar and roll. No pressure to perform, just lots of encouragement. No sneaky sales tactics.

This place is awesome! I’m not from Jersey and this place made it instantly feel like I was at home. The coaches were awesome very flexible with the students. I even had the chance to train in private classes with coach Jim Fitzpatrick, who is a awesome dude! Highly recommend!

An exceptional facility with a great training team. It doesn't get better than learning technique from actual competitors and professional coaches. The instructors have the complete attention of the children and make it extremely fun. I highly recommend this facility to any parent looking to find a martial arts class for their kids.
My 6 Y/O daughter has only been attending for a few weeks but I have already noticed a huge difference in her demeanor. The instructors were the biggest surprise. Their attention to detail while keeping the younger children engaged is impressive. They have already touched on anti-bullying and are instilling other important character traits which are important for a child's development. I’ve been coming here for several months and it’s hands down the best overall workout, mind, body, and soul! The cardio kickboxing classes led by Coach Tyler have helped me focus while building strength and stamina. With the encouragement of all the coaches there, I’ve even built up the confidence to try Women’s BJJ, which has been a challenge, yet so incredibly rewarding for mental and physical ability.
